Barngay Nining is considered as the southern gateway of San Nicolas the entry point of the municipality from region II thru San Quintin and Natividad . It is situated about 3/12 kms away south of the town proper and a kilometer away from the town proper of Natividad . According to old folks . Nining was originally as sitio of barrio San Jose Nining was left over of the barrio when part of San Jose was taken away from San Nicolas to form the municipality of Natividad in 1902 . The creation of Natividad as a separate two adjacent towns . The creek passing across the barangay became the bundant and north of creek became Brgy. Nining of San Nicolas while the portion across and south because of its increasing annual population rate, the late Eliseo Martinez , personally initiated the passage of a resolution by the Municipal Council in 1962 , Sitio Dalumpinas was created and converted into a barrio.
In 1938 a primary class was established under Mr. Manuel Pacia and later on, additional two (2) other classes were held in the Gabaldon building with Mr. Eduardo Navarro and Julian P. Martinez as the first intermediate school teacher and school principal respectively . Several of its inhabitants are currently employed as OCW’s in the middle east Europe Hongkong , and other Asian countries and actively extending assistance in all barangay projects.
Barangay Dalumpinas is one of the biggest barangay among the thirty three(33) barangays of San Nicolas . It is situated at the foot of the Caraballo Mountain and more or less six (6) kilometers away from the town proper. It is among the eighteen (18) barangays bounded in the east by Brgy.Salingcob , in the south by Brgy.Lungao in the west by Brgy. San Isidro and in the north by the Caraballo mountain . It is divided into four(4) purok namely: Purok Minong (Eastern Dalumpinas) with a total population of 497 and 45 households ;Purok Pablo ( Centro) with a total population of 193 and 47 households ;and Purok Prudencio with a total population of 246 and 42 households.
The barangay has an estimate land area of more or less 250 hectares of which 200 hectares is considered as agricultural lands , 20 hectares is classified as residential lands, and the remaining 30 hectares as rolling hills planted with variety of trees and fruits bearing trees like mangoes , kasuy and other . The principal farm product is rice and supplemented by a variety of vegetable plants . It has an approximate annual farm production of 32,000 cavans of rice and four(4)to five(5) tons of cash crops. The construction of several irrigation canals by farmers association like Tanggal Bantay , Tanggal Takip , and Tanggal lakay, boosted the volume and improved agricultural production with three croppings a year.
Inhabitants of the barangay supplements their agricultural income through cattle raising, swine raising and bamboo furniture of their creek became Nining of Natividad . Early settlers in Nining came from the western part of the province and from the Ilocos provinces .
However ,there was no existing historical records to show how barangay Nining got its name . Even old folks were not aware on how the word Nining became the name of the place.
The creation of barangays through the implementation of Nining as separate barangay from brgy. San Jose . it is bounded on the south by Municiality of Natividad ; on the north by Brgy. Siblot on the east by brgy. Cabitnongan and on the west by brgy. San Jose . The place is a flourishing agricultural community being endowed by nature with rich and fertile soil, good community being endowed by nature with rich farm products like palay, corn, tobacco, mongo and vegetables . Livestock raising is another source of income .
Prominent families in the barangay are the Ubera , Arellaga, Apigo and Aquino among others.
