Fianza is the second remotest and mountainous barangay of the municipality situated in the ranges of the Caraballo Mountains . It is bounded on the north by Itogon , Benguet ;on the south by Brgy. Sta.Maria East; on the east by Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya , and Brgy. Malico ;and on the west by Brgy. Salingcob and Dalumpinas . It is in Brgy .Fianza that the Ambayaoan River gains its first entry to the municipality as the river originated in the mountain province near the source of Ambuklao River. Fianza was formerly as sitio of Barrio San Antonio before the 60’s . Due to the PACD creation of barangays to foster development in the countryside , it transformed the said barrio into two separate and distinct barangays . at present , nine sitio comprises the barangay , namely Sitios Puyao , Baracbac, Patoran Sapinit, Andalasi, Bangar , Mayandot, Padaraw and Kulangew . Sitios Patoran and Sapinit are considered the center of the barangay ,being the most populated areas and most productive in terms of farm productions . Sitio Sapinit is about 9 kms. away from the town proper. Fianza got its name from the richest and most influential; person , who had settled in the barangay. After retiring as the first mayor of Itogon, Benguet , he decided to settle for good in this peaceful ,quiet and science locality . He owned vast tracts of lands , a cattle ranch and was said that his guests were served to eat on golden plates with golden spoons and forks because of his richness , generosity and power people simply referred the place as Fianza .Hence forth , the locality became barangay Fianza in honor of mayor Mariano Fianza. Fianza’s first settlers originated mostly from nearby Itogon and Kayapa , Nueva Vizcaya . aside from the few who came from Dalumpinas ans San Antonio of San Nicolas. The first Teniente del barrio was Emilio Marticio . Most of the inhabitants belong to the enthnolinguistic groups of Ibaloi , iwak and kalanguya tribes who all speak Ilokano as their second dialect . Because of its topography , farm products are mostly upland crops like camote, gabi and ginger aside from palay and corn cultivated in small flat lands beside the Ambayoan as their source of income along with tree planting firewood production and cattle grazing. Fianza is accessible only by land transportation of high four- wheel drive types during dry season as the road line being used from Sitio Puyao to Sitio sapinit is the winding Ambayoan River itself. On the rainy days, people have to travel on foot via treacherous mountain traits from Puyao to Sapinit which is about 5 kms. in distance.
